Positions: Breastfeeding is a skill. It is really helpful to understand various positions in which you can feed your child. As a new mom, you may find it easier to use the same hand for both breasts. This means you will hold your baby across your lap to feed on one breast, and then to feed from the other breast, you’ll hold your baby under your arm. YOUR DIET DETERMINES YOUR BABY’S HEALTH:
Superfoods: There is no relation between the size of the breasts and the milk production. However there are certain foods which aids in production of mothers’ milk. They are fennel seeds, Basil, Garlic, Green leafy vegetables, Nuts, Dried fruits and Pulses. Read all about super foods here.
Drink up : While on lactation a mother might feel thirsty often. Make sure you keep your body hydrated at all times to keep your milk flowing.
BREAST FEEDING SHOULD NOT BE PAINFUL:
Sore or cracked nipples : Your breasts are in continuous exertion they need to be taken extra care of. Sore nipples can be painful. Moisturising them often after nursing can help heal.While you pack for your labor, you should definitely pack a nipple cream, your breasts will thank you later.
Mastitis: When breast milk gets blocked and does not get cleared or expressed then it causes inflammation of breast tissues which is called Mastitis.Mastitis may or may not be compounded by an infection. If the mastitis develops into an infection, you will may develop chills high fevers and fatigue.You can prevent Mastitis by not letting your breasts become engorged, sticking to a regular feeding schedule and avoid wearing tight bras. BEING ANXIOUS IS NORMAL:
It’s a normal concern for any mother about the quantity of milk supply to her kid.You don’t necessarily have to stress over measuring your milk supply. It’s a biological need of any mother to be nursing her child.
Your baby’s hinting : A peacefully napping baby is a content baby. If your baby’s fussing with his fingers and sucking them furiously, he’s probably hungry. Your baby’s eating habits can be determined by his dirty diapers. Check his diapers and change 6 to 12 in a day with 5 bowel movements, being normal.
